I'm so pleased to be participating with CAS Colours & Sketches as Guest Designer for the month of February! For this first clean and simple challenge, what a great opportunity to continue with my current obsession for Valentine's Day cards. The first challenge of the month is a color challenge using melon, blush, and red and this card is an example of using images that weren't specifically designed for this holiday - adapting them to Valentine's Day cards.
I used a Strathmore pre-made 5x7 off-white watercolor paper card base with matching envelope. I cut a smaller stitched rectangle from the same paper and die-cut one of the blossom images out of the face of the rectangle with one of my favorite dies (Alexandra Renke "Magic Blossom"). I then die cut three blossoms (one blush and two patterned blush/melon) and inserted the blush one into the die cut on the rectangle. On a strip of red cardstock, I heat embossed the sentiment with Zing! "Blush" embossing powder and mounted it to the rectangle with the two additional blossoms. I added the XOXO with PTI "Berry Sorbet", punched a hole to insert some ribbon, and die-cut a bunch of small hearts in the three colors to add to the base of the stamens of the blossoms and to accentuate the sentiment. This was all added to the card base with dimensional foam.
Take a look at the cards the Design Team members have created and DO have fun creating one yourself!
